Terms of use
Last updated: 12 October 2026
These terms cover the Cupola app for iPhone and Android, and this website, cupola.torresj.es. By using either, you accept them.
Who runs Cupola
Cupola and this website are made and run by Jaime Torres. Contact: jtbenavente@gmail.com.
Using the app
Cupola is distributed through Apple's App Store and Google Play. The store's own terms apply to the download and to your licence to use the app, together with these terms: on iPhone, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement.
You may use Cupola to monitor and control equipment that you own or are allowed to operate. Don't use it to access servers or equipment without permission, and don't try to break or misuse the app or this website.
Your equipment and safety
Cupola sends commands to real hardware: telescopes that move, domes and roofs that open and close, cameras that cool down. Please keep in mind:
- You're responsible for your equipment and its surroundings. Make sure nothing can collide, snag cables or get damaged when something moves, and supervise any remote operation.
- Cupola's checks are aids, not safety systems. The altitude limit, the parked check and the weather readings depend on what your drivers report and on a working connection. Keep the safety limits of your mount, dome and drivers in place as well.
- Connections can drop. A phone can lose its connection at any time. A command may not have been carried out, and the app may not show the latest state until it reconnects.
- Drivers and servers are third-party software. INDI drivers and servers are made by others. Cupola shows and sends what they expose.
No warranty
Cupola and this website are provided as they are, with no warranties beyond those required by law. I don't promise that they will be free of errors, work with every driver or be available at all times.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, I'm not liable for damage to equipment, lost observing time, lost data or indirect damages that result from using Cupola or this website. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn't allow to be limited, such as liability for intent or gross negligence, or takes away your rights as a consumer under Spanish and European law.
Intellectual property
The name Cupola, its icon, its design and the app's software belong to Jaime Torres. The website's source code is licensed under the GNU General Public License v3.0. The sky previews come from the DSS2 survey through the CDS hips2fits service and belong to their owners. INDI, KStars, Ekos, StellarMate, Astroberry, Raspberry Pi, iPhone, App Store, Android and Google Play are names or trademarks of their respective owners.
Links
This website and the app link to other sites, such as dindi and CDS. I'm not responsible for their content.
Changes
I may update these terms, for example when the app gains features. The current version is always on this page, with its date at the top.
Law and courts
These terms are governed by Spanish law. If you are a consumer, you can bring any dispute before the courts of the place where you live.
